Debt takes the power of compounding interest and uses it to work against you. While debt can help you get a degree for a high paying career and a home, it should always be used with caution. In general, we want you to be afraid of debt, letting that natural fear fuel you into becoming debt free as soon as possible.
Paying off high-interest debt is an early priority on our FIRE ladder. Let the money you spend in minimum payments on debt work to earn you interest in investing instead.
Find resources to help you tackle debt along your freedom FIRE journey, so you can owe no one anything. It’s a powerful feeling that brings a lot of peace.
